There are legal requirements which any organisation has to adhere to for both pay and, more recently, pensions. With regards to pay, employers must ensure that their staff are paid at least the National Minimum Wage, the thresholds for which are dependent on the employee’s age.
The recent pension reform has introduced auto-enrolment which means that all employers must make a minimum contribution to their employee’s pension fund. This is a very complex policy which is still in the process of being established.
